Rio Claro infant resuscitated after being declared dead

A premature infant in Rio Claro, São Paulo, has been discharged from the hospital after being declared dead following a cardiorespiratory arrest. The newborn, who was born on June 15 and has a cleft palate, suffered a severe clinical regression on July 15.

After a second cardiac arrest, death was initially pronounced at 5:12 p.m. However, while handling the body, a funeral agent noticed the infant was still breathing and alerted the medical team. Following approximately 45 minutes of emergency resuscitation, the baby was stabilized.

The infant was transferred to the Hospital de Reabilitação de Anomalias Crânio-Faciais at the University of São Paulo in Bauru for specialized surgical treatment and follow-up care.
