Brazil court removes Pedrinho from Vasco SAF, names Samantha Longo as interim manager

On 24 June 2026 the Rio de Janeiro 4ª Vara Empresarial ordered the removal of Pedro Paulo de Oliveira (Pedrinho), president of Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama, from the chair of the Vasco SAF board, along with council members Christiano Stockler Campos and Felipe Elias. The decision, issued by Judge Caroline Fonseca, responded to a petition from 777 Carioca and cited “serious governance failures”, a negative net equity of R$ 647 million, the absence of a chief financial officer, and alleged coercive practices in player transfers, including claims by Chilean striker Jean David.

The judge appointed former CBF legal director Samantha Mendes Longo as judicial interventor for 60 days, tasking her with restoring regular governance, transparency and reporting to the court every fifteen days. The ruling does not block ongoing negotiations to sell the SAF to investor Marcos Lamacchia (son of Crefisa owner José Lamacchia), but any transaction must obtain the consent of 777 Carioca, the current controlling shareholder.

Pedrinho opened a letter to supporters criticizing the political maneuvering he says threatens the club’s future, while José Lamacchia publicly pledged to invest billions to rescue the club and warned that the sale would only proceed with Pedrinho in charge. The intervention adds uncertainty to the club’s financial recovery and its bid to secure new ownership.
