Rio das Ostras festivals generate R$ 5 million for local economy
The Gastronomy Festival of Rio das Ostras and Sesc de Inverno 2026 generated approximately R$ 5.01 million for the local economy over a four-day period from July 30 to August 2. According to data from the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development and Tourism, the events attracted 27,000 participants.
The economic impact was distributed across several sectors, including hospitality, gastronomy, commerce, transport, and leisure. The hotel industry reported an average occupancy rate of 70%. Additionally, the festivals created 230 new jobs in areas such as assembly, security, cleaning, and operational support.
Visitor data indicates significant tourism from outside the immediate region. Approximately 25.9% of the audience traveled from Rio de Janeiro, while Niterói and São Gonçalo accounted for 14.8% of the total attendance. Pablo Kling, the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism, stated that the administration intends to use this data to improve future editions and consolidate tourism policies.
