Rio de Janeiro alters polling locations to ensure electoral security

The Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) has announced significant changes to the upcoming October elections to safeguard electoral integrity. The court has altered 66 polling locations across 20 municipalities, affecting approximately 188,000 voters. This decision, led by Judge Claudio de Mello Tavares, aims to prevent the influence of militias and organized crime by removing voting sites classified as "high risk."

Simultaneously, the TRE-RJ has begun the official summons for approximately 150,000 poll workers. Notifications are being sent via WhatsApp to guide workers through the electronic summoning system. The court warns citizens that official messages will not contain links and advises voters to verify polling locations through the TRE-RJ website or official telephone lines to account for the recent site changes.
