Rio de Janeiro announces R$ 210 million for Complexo do Alemão infrastructure

The Rio de Janeiro municipal government has announced a R$ 210 million investment in infrastructure and urbanization projects for Complexo do Alemão. The initiative, presented by Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and Housing Secretary Claudio Dutra, aims to improve living conditions in the North Zone community, which is home to approximately 60,000 residents.

The project includes the installation of water and sewage networks, road paving, construction of 192 housing units, rainwater drainage, and slope containment. Additionally, the works will feature the creation of leisure areas, modernization of public lighting, and the development of the 32,000-square-meter Everest Park.

Concentrated in the Morro do Itararé, Travessa Laurinda, and Capão areas, these interventions are part of the Morar Carioca program, the largest favela urbanization program in Brazil, designed to provide citizenship and dignity through urban improvements and land regularization.
