Rio de Janeiro candidates face confrontations during election campaigns

The electoral campaign in Rio de Janeiro has been marked by several confrontations and field activities. In Barra da Tijuca, federal candidate Talita Galhardo (PSDB) and state candidate Sargento Britto (Republicanos) engaged in a heated verbal altercation at a local market. The dispute reportedly involved accusations regarding unpaid campaign staff and political alliances.

In Tijuca, a separate incident occurred between state deputies Alexandre Knoploch (PL) and Flávio Serafini (PSOL). Serafini alleged that Knoploch used pepper spray and brandished a firearm during a confrontation at his campaign committee. Knoploch provided a different account, stating he was responding to complaints about offensive music and felt intimidated by the group.

Other candidates continued their field operations, including Cyro Garcia (PSTU), who campaigned in Cabo Frio focusing on the municipal education crisis and teacher strikes, and André Ceciliano (PT), who conducted carreatas in Japeri and Taquara to strengthen local ties.
