Rio de Janeiro celebrates Catholic business milestone and literary festival

The Catholic Business Association of Rio (ADCE Rio) marked its 64th anniversary on 3 August with a Thanksgiving Mass at the historic Candelária Church, presided over by Monsenhor Hélio Pacheco. ADCE President Elmair Neto received a motion of applause from the Rio City Council, and the celebration continued with a reception at the Windsor Guanabara Hotel.

From 13 to 16 August, the city of Niterói hosted the 2026 International Literary Festival (FLIN), a free four‑day event drawing an expected 30 000 visitors. The festival honored anthropologist and activist Lélia Gonzalez and featured prominent figures such as actress Fernanda Montenegro, writer Valter Hugo Mãe, musician Emicida, and scholar Lilia Schwarcz. Mayor Rodrigo Neves highlighted the festival’s role in promoting literature, culture, and democratic dialogue.
