Rio de Janeiro chosen to host 2028 UIA International Architecture Forum and to stage CASACOR's 35th edition

The city of Rio de Janeiro was selected at the Disseny Hub in Barcelona to host the 5th International Forum of the Union International des Architectes (UIA) in 2028. Backed by the Instituto de Arquitetos do Brasil, the municipal government and federal ministries, the forum will focus on sustainable architecture, urbanism and tourism, and is expected to draw more than 5,000 participants from around the world.

Separately, CASACOR Rio announced the programme for its 35th edition, running from 15 September to 8 November 2026 in the restored Edifício Aliança da Bahia. The exhibition, themed “Mente e Coração”, will bring together veteran architects and emerging designers to explore memory, wellbeing and human connection in the built environment. As Patricia Mayer, co‑director of CASACOR Rio, said, “O elenco desta edição traduz exatamente o que a CASACOR Rio construiu ao longo de 35 anos.” Both events underscore Rio’s role as a hub for architectural innovation and cultural tourism.
