João Pessoa’s Procon assists over 10,000 consumers in first half of 2026

The Municipal Consumer Protection Secretariat (Procon‑JP) in João Pessoa reported that 10,370 consumers sought its help between January and June 2026. Of these, 4,638 were served in person at the main service centre (SAC) and the mobile unit that operates by appointment in neighbourhoods, while 5,723 received assistance virtually through WhatsApp, a dedicated mobile app and a 0800 hotline.

Procon‑JP operates four daily service channels plus the itinerant “Procon‑JP Móvel”. Secretary Júnior Pires emphasized the need for multiple access points, stating, “the importance of having several channels available to the citizen.” The agency’s aim is to resolve consumer disputes quickly, offering legal advice, free credit checks and even psychological support for gambling‑related issues.

The six‑month figures illustrate the expanding reach of municipal consumer protection services, combining face‑to‑face and digital interactions to serve residents across João Pessoa.
