Rio de Janeiro drives tourism, real‑estate and smart‑city projects to attract investment
The municipal Economic Development and Tourism Secretariat of Rio das Ostras met with representatives of the regional real‑estate council (CRECI‑RJ) and local market professionals on 22 July. They discussed integrating tourism with real‑estate development, highlighting the potential for seasonal rentals, second homes, commercial spaces and event venues. The municipality plans a technical cooperation agreement, a permanent working group, and the launch of a Tourism Observatory to provide data for public and private decision‑making, aiming to boost visitor numbers, new events and business investment.
At the IV Rio Empreendedor Forum, held 23–24 July, the Associação Comercial do Rio de Janeiro (ACRJ) gathered business leaders, academics and public officials to debate the city’s evolution into a “smart city.” Speakers, including a Petrobras executive and the state secretary of Transport and Mobility, emphasized the need for efficient infrastructure, integrated management, and citizen participation. Panels covered technology adoption, urban mobility, and the inclusion of micro and small enterprises in the innovation ecosystem, seeking to improve quality of life and attract further investment to Rio.
