Rio de Janeiro entities announce infrastructure and hospitality growth

Sesc RJ has announced a plan to launch 18 new projects and expanded units by 2030 to mark the institution's 80th anniversary. Key developments include a 17,000-square-meter multi-use complex in Piedade, scheduled for its first phase in February 2027, which will feature a theater, library, and sports facilities capable of hosting professional volleyball training.

Other initiatives include the revitalization of the Clube Ginástico Português in central Rio de Janeiro and the creation of the Museum of Commerce, Memory, and Art (MuCMA) at the institution's original site in Engenho de Dentro. This site will include research centers and a conservation laboratory.

In the hospitality sector, Lagune Barra Hotel reported a 44% increase in lodging revenue during the third quarter of 2026 compared to the previous year. The hotel, located within the Riocentro complex, saw a 39% rise in average daily rates and a 6% increase in occupancy. Growth was driven by major events such as Rock in Rio and ROG. e, alongside a strategy to diversify market segments and expand international presence, particularly in Argentina.
