Rio de Janeiro expands COVID-19 vaccination to seniors

The Municipal Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro has expanded the eligibility for the updated COVID-19 vaccine targeting the LP. 8.1 strain to include seniors aged 60 and older. This expansion follows a new supply of doses provided by the Ministry of Health.

In addition to seniors, the vaccination program continues to include pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals, and people with permanent disabilities. Other age groups will be included in a staggered manner as more doses become available in the city.

The vaccine is available at 241 Primary Care units, including family clinics and municipal health centers. Specialized vaccination centers are also operating in Botafogo, ParkShoppingCampoGrande in the West Zone, and Shopping Nova América in the North Zone. Residents are advised to bring an identity document and their vaccination record to receive the dose.
