Rio de Janeiro governor poll shows Eduardo Paes far ahead, Senate race led by Benedita da Silva

A Paraná Pesquisas survey of 1,680 voters in 62 municipalities conducted from 1‑3 June 2026 finds Rio de Janeiro’s current mayor Eduardo Paes commanding 48.3% of the vote, far ahead of the nearest rival, PL candidate Douglas Ruas at 12.6%. Other contenders register single‑digit support: Anthony Garotinho 9.2%, André Marinho 4.2%, Wilson Witzel 3.1%, and the rest below 3%. With a margin of error of ±2.4 points, the poll suggests Paes could win the gubernatorial election in the first round and would likely defeat Ruas by about 60%‑24.5% in a runoff.

In a separate Senate‑seat poll for Rio, the same institute surveyed 1,600 voters in 60 municipalities between 29 June and 1 July 2026. PT’s Benedita da Silva leads with 33‑35% depending on the scenario, while former mayor Marcelo Crivella of the Republicanos party registers 25.9% (though his candidacy faces a suspension of eligibility). Union Brasil’s Márcio Canella trails at 21‑22%, with other candidates ranging from 10‑12%.

Both polls carry a 2.5‑point margin of error and are registered with the Brazilian Electoral Justice (codes RJ‑04259/2026 and RJ‑05645/2026).
