Rio de Janeiro infrastructure faces safety concerns and maintenance closures

Maintenance and safety concerns have been reported regarding public infrastructure in Rio de Janeiro. At the Passeio Público park in the city center, missing manhole covers and a broken gate have raised safety alarms. There is currently no official confirmation regarding the cause of the missing covers, which may have been stolen, or a timeline for repairs.

Additionally, scheduled maintenance in the city will result in the closure of several tunnels and elevated roads. The Santa Bárbara Tunnel will be closed in the direction of Laranjeiras, while the Zuzu Angel and Acústico Rafael Mascarenhas tunnels will close in the direction of Gávea. The Engenheiro Freyssinet and Rufino Pizarro elevated structures will also face closures heading toward the North Zone.
