Rio de Janeiro Judo Federation reports vice‑championship at national Sub‑13s and announces new Copa Rio venue

Judô Rio athletes earned 14 medals – three gold, five silver and six bronze – at the Brazilian Sub‑13 Championship held in Macapá, Amapá, with 489 participants from 25 federative units and 36 competitors representing Rio de Janeiro. The medal haul was achieved by judokas from ten clubs affiliated with the Federação de Judô do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (FJERJ).

The federation also announced that the 2026 Copa Rio International Judo will move to the Anfiteatro do Riocentro in Barra da Tijuca. The venue, located in Pavilhão 6 of Riocentro, can accommodate up to 12,000 spectators and offers more than 7,700 m² of space. Organizers expect over 1,500 registrations across categories from Sub‑11 to Veterans, with participation from a hundred clubs nationwide. The event is sponsored by Light under the state sports incentive law and is organized by Instituto Opus Vitae in partnership with FJERJ and the Brazilian Judo Confederation.
