Rio de Janeiro launches 3,500 free slots in youth vocational courses

The Municipal Youth Secretariat (JUVRio) in Rio de Janeiro opened registration for 3,500 places in twelve free courses for residents aged 15 to 29. Applications close on 30 June, and classes run throughout July across seven Neighborhood Youth Centers in Estácio, Cidade de Deus, Madureira, Vigário Geral, Jacarezinho, Vargem Pequena and Campo Grande. Offered subjects include drone operation, graphic design, English, social media, business IT, mobile photography, computer assembly, public speaking, robotics, artificial intelligence, videomaking and more, each providing free materials and a completion certificate.

Separately, the Executive Youth Secretariat (Sejuv) partnered with the Municipal Social Assistance Secretariat (SAS) to deliver a free eyebrow‑design course at the CRAS Vila Nasser centre from 8–12 June. Participants received training in design techniques, henna application and client service, aiming to improve employability and income generation for local residents. Both initiatives target professional qualification and financial autonomy for Rio’s youth.
