Rio de Janeiro launches Chefs Week and Peruano Festival for summer cultural program

Rio de Janeiro’s event calendar for 23–29 July features the first Latin‑American edition of the Portuguese‑led "Chefs Week," with more than 40 restaurants offering special menus paired with Portuguese wines. The programme runs through early August and includes exclusive dinners, wine tastings and a variety of participating venues such as Ophelia, Itsáry, Mäska and Pabu Izakaya.

The weekend also hosts a Peruano Festival in the gardens of the Museu da República, organized by the Peruvian Consulate, showcasing Peruvian cuisine and handicrafts. Additional highlights include DigitalDubs’ 25‑year anniversary party in Praça Quinze and local fairs at Parque Lage and Jardim Botânico.

Separately, the Brazilian newspaper Folha Popular released its 857th edition on 21 July 2026, covering regional news such as a citizen‑legal identity‑scheduling initiative in São Gonçalo, a free cycling tour in Conceição do Mato Dentro, and a municipal cultural heritage designation for Forró do Morro.
