Rio de Janeiro launches integrated urban maintenance in South Zone
The Rio de Janeiro municipal government has launched integrated urban maintenance operations across the South Zone. Through the ‘Corredores de Excelência’ program, authorities are concentrating services on Rua Hilário de Gouveia in Copacabana. This initiative involves multiple agencies, including Comlurb, the Municipal Secretariat of Conservation, Rioluz, CET-Rio, and the Municipal Guard, to perform street cleaning, tree pruning, lighting maintenance, and parking enforcement.
Simultaneously, the ‘Comunidade de Responsa’ program has deployed over 100 workers to the Pavão Pavãozinho and Cantagalo communities. This operation focuses on cleaning alleys, slopes, and narrow streets using specialized techniques such as rappelling for debris removal. Services include weeding, trash removal, and hydraulic cleaning of roads using reused water and soap to improve local sanitation and infrastructure.
