Public health and elderly care initiatives launched in Rio de Janeiro and Volta Redonda

Public health and social welfare initiatives are underway in Rio de Janeiro and Volta Redonda. In Rio, the City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat of Healthy Aging and Quality of Life, launched the ‘Rio que Cuida’ project. This initiative provides elderly citizens with health services, therapies, and social integration activities at various community centers, including the Maria Haydée and Bibi Franklin Leal units.

Additionally, the Albert Schweitzer Municipal Hospital in Realengo is conducting a blood donation campaign in partnership with Hemorio to replenish local blood banks. The campaign aims to ensure the availability of blood components for emergency procedures and surgeries.

In Volta Redonda, the municipal government has gained national recognition for its ‘Viva Melhor’ project. The program promotes healthy aging through physical activities and leisure for approximately 10,000 elderly residents, utilizing municipal facilities like the Municipal Aquatic Park.
