Rio de Janeiro metro station Morro de São João removed from concession scope

The Morro de São João station in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, has been removed from the current priority list of the State Secretariat of Transport (Setram) and is no longer included in the MetrôRio concession scope.

Although the structure was excavated decades ago using public funds and was previously considered for the expansion of Line 1, the project was excluded from the new 2025 concession arrangement. While a 2007 contract amendment included the station as a possibility for expansion, the 10th amendment, which unifies Lines 1, 2, and 4 under current management through 2048, removed this provision. The new agreement focuses investments on other areas, such as a R$ 600 million contribution for the completion of the Gávea Station.
