Rio de Janeiro museums host new exhibitions on Tom Jobim and Carmen Miranda

Various museums and cultural centers in Rio de Janeiro are hosting several temporary exhibitions. Notable highlights include the immersive show ‘Jobim-açu’, which examines Tom Jobim’s connection to the Atlantic Forest, and ‘Carmen: Rio remix’, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Carmen Miranda Museum.

The Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) is hosting a retrospective of Vik Muniz titled ‘Vik Muniz – A olho nu’, featuring over 200 works, alongside ‘Amazônicas: poéticas femininas’, which showcases 80 works by 21 contemporary female artists from Pará, Acre, and Amazonas. Other regional highlights include the ‘Cipó’ exhibition featuring Huni Kuin paintings and the ‘Coleção Ingá: Brasil plural’ at the Centro Cultural da Justiça Federal.

Other active exhibitions include photography by Zanele Muholi at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), works by Waltercio Caldas at Casa Roberto Marinho, and an exploration of the relationship between humanity and technology at the Museu do Amanhã. Many venues, such as Caixa Cultural and Centro Cultural Correios, offer free admission.
