Rio-Niterói Bridge: Fugitive arrested for robbery and organized crime

The Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) arrested a fugitive on the Rio-Niterói Bridge on Sunday night. During the approach on the BR-101 highway, the suspect attempted to use a false identity.

Authorities confirmed the individual had active arrest warrants from the states of Piauí and Maranhão. The warrants involve serious charges, including robbery, bank robbery, and armed criminal organization. In Piauí, the suspect faced preventive detention for illegal possession of restricted firearms and organized crime, while in Maranhão, a warrant was issued for a sentence involving robbery resulting in death (latrocínio).

The suspect, who has a criminal history in the Northeast region involving violent bank heists and cargo theft, was taken to the PF Regional Superintendency in Rio de Janeiro. He was charged with using false documents before being transferred to the state prison system. This joint operation aligns with intelligence measures established under the Supreme Federal Court's ADPF 635.
