Rio de Janeiro police arrest suspects in drug trafficking operations

Police operations in the state of Rio de Janeiro have resulted in the arrest of two individuals suspected of supporting drug trafficking organizations.

In Resende, a 20-year-old man was apprehended in the Surubi neighborhood during a policing order aimed at combating drug trafficking. Authorities seized two radio communicators and a ballistic vest cover. The suspect reportedly admitted to acting as a “radinho,” a role responsible for communication within the trafficking structure.

In Angra dos Reis, a 27-year-old man was arrested in the Sapinhatuba 1 community. During the operation, which was intensified due to territorial disputes between criminal factions, police found the suspect in an abandoned house. He was found with a radio communicator and two cell phones and reportedly identified himself as an “olheiro” (lookout) for the Comando Vermelho gang. Additionally, police confirmed the individual had two outstanding arrest warrants.
