Rio de Janeiro prosecutors denounce 20 for militia and TCP alliance
The Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor's Office, through its specialized crime combat group Gaeco, has denounced 20 individuals for their involvement in criminal networks linking the Curicica militia to the Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP) drug faction.
Among those denounced are two military police officers, Jorge Anastácio Rodrigues Simões and Leo Carlos Araújo Santos, who are accused of supplying and mediating the trade of weapons and ammunition, including high-caliber rifles, for these groups. The investigation revealed a strategic alliance between the militia and the TCP, based on a non-aggression pact and operational cooperation intended to combat rival groups like the Comando Vermelho.
The Curicica militia operates with a hierarchical structure. André Costa Bastos is identified as the strategic leader, while Osmar Silva de Souza serves as the operational leader. The organization reportedly funds its activities through extortion of local residents and merchants, as well as vehicle and cargo theft in the Jacarepaguá region. Yuri Guimarães Soares is also identified as a key link between the militia and the TCP.
