Rio de Janeiro police investigate contaminated cakes in Oswaldo Cruz

Police in Rio de Janeiro are investigating the contamination of cakes intended for a Children's Day celebration in the Oswaldo Cruz neighborhood. Forensic experts are working to identify the unknown substance allegedly thrown onto the desserts.

According to reports, a suspect allegedly accessed the location via a broken roof tile and threw toxic substances onto the cakes. Following a tip, Military Police officers located the man inside a residence. The suspect reportedly barricaded himself in a room and surrendered only after negotiations.

Authorities seized a .40 caliber pistol with nine rounds of ammunition during the arrest. The suspect was taken to the 30th DP (Marechal Hermes) for questioning, and witnesses have been summoned to provide testimony as the investigation continues.
