Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor's Office renews crime data agreement

The Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) has renewed a technical cooperation agreement with the Institute of Public Security (ISP) to enhance strategic information sharing and combat criminality. Signed by Attorney General Antonio José Campos Moreira and ISP President Bárbara Caballero, the updated agreement aims to standardize and expand the flow of information to improve intelligence, monitoring, and criminal investigation tools.

Under the terms of the renewal, the MPRJ will receive seven institutional credentials for the ISPGeo platform, specifically for the police module. The office will also receive monthly microdata on criminal events, both georeferenced and non-georeferenced, accompanied by a variable dictionary. In exchange, the MPRJ will provide the ISP with territorial databases containing the geographic boundaries of municipalities' neighborhoods and relevant legal frameworks.

The partnership also involves the exchange of data dating back to 2016, including information on custody hearings, arrest reports, indictments, investigations, sentences, and appeals. This agreement has been extended for an additional 24 months to ensure the continuity of evidence-based public policy formulation and criminal analysis.
