Rio de Janeiro recognizes public servants for service innovation
The Rio de Janeiro State Government has recognized nine public servants for developing innovative solutions to improve administrative efficiency and citizen services through the ‘Transforma. RJ: Reconhecimento à Inovação – 2026’ award. The initiative, organized by the Secretariat of Digital Transformation, Proderj, and Faperj, focused on reducing bureaucracy and modernizing internal processes.
One highlighted project involves the digitalization of building regularization processes with the Fire Department. Through a new Applicant Portal, citizens can track procedures entirely online, eliminating the need for in-person visits. In 2026 alone, this system prevented more than 20,000 paper-based processes and reduced processing times by 35%.
