Rio de Janeiro replants 18 trees in São Conrado

The Rio de Janeiro South Zone Subprefecture, in partnership with the Fundação Parques e Jardins (FPJ), conducted an urban revitalization action in the São Conrado neighborhood through the Planta+Rio program. The initiative involved replanting 18 trees across various locations, including the São Conrado waterfront on Avenida Prefeito Mendes de Morais, Avenida Aquarela do Brasil, and the central median of the Autoestrada Engenheiro Fernando Mac Dowell.

Species planted during the operation included coconut trees, guanandi, and aldrago. Launched in December 2025 by the Municipal Secretariat of Environment and Climate (SMAC), the Planta+Rio project aims to expand and improve urban forestry by encouraging direct community participation. Residents can request seedlings and assist in the care and preservation of trees within their communities to help improve air quality and reduce local temperatures.
