Rio de Janeiro samba podcast launches new season

The second season of the podcast ‘O Samba Tem História’ has premiered, featuring interviews with prominent figures in Rio de Janeiro's samba scene. Hosted by journalist and researcher Pedro Paulo Malta, the program aims to build an archive documenting the evolution and behind-the-scenes history of the genre.

The season, which runs until November 20, includes participants such as composer and researcher Nei Lopes, Fred Camacho, Marcelle Motta, Marina Íris, Leandro Fregonesi, and Raul DiCaprio. Other scheduled guests include Carlinhos de Jesus, Nilze Carvalho, Marquynhos Diniz, Milton Manhães, Paulinho Resende, and Marcos Sacramento.

The podcast is distributed via the Rádio Samba website and app. The platform has seen significant growth, accumulating 3.4 million views since its launch in December 2023, with nearly 930,000 views recorded in the last four weeks. Additionally, Rádio Samba coordinates a free percussion workshop in the Caju community in Rio de Janeiro to provide musical education to local youth.
