Rio de Janeiro state hosts blues festivals in Niterói and Nova Friburgo

The Theatro Municipal in Niterói will stage a special concert on 31 July 2026 featuring the Soulshine Jam Band together with three members of the Blues Etílicos—flutist Flávio Guimarães, guitarist Otávio Rocha and drummer Beto Werther. The show celebrates the 40th anniversary of Blues Etílicos and honors the late American musician Greg Wilson, who performed with both groups. Tickets are R$70 for adults and R$35 for students.

In Nova Friburgo, organizers unveiled the official program for the fifth edition of Fri Jazz & Blues 2026. The launch, held at the new headquarters of the Nova Friburgo & Região Convention & Visitors Bureau, highlighted the event’s role in boosting tourism for Nova Friburgo, Lumiar and São Pedro da Serra. Officials stressed the festival’s expected economic impact and announced the upcoming 2nd State Meeting of the Associations of Tourism Guides, scheduled for 16 August, which will gather over 350 professionals.
