Rio de Janeiro state reorganizes administrative structure

The Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro has issued two decrees to reorganize its administrative structure. Acting Governor Ricardo Couto signed the measures, which extinguish 524 vacant commission positions.

One decree transforms 741 vacant commission positions into 217 roles with higher responsibility and value, which will be managed by the State Secretariat of the Civil House. Because the positions were vacant, the move does not result in new appointments or dismissals.

A second decree transfers legal advisory commission positions from state secretariats to the State Attorney General's Office (PGE). This move aims to centralize legal guidance for the Executive branch and standardize the actions of legal advisors, who are already state prosecutors. The government stated that these changes are intended to optimize the structure without increasing public spending.
