Rio de Janeiro tourism sees growth through sustainable events and gastronomy

Tourism in Rio de Janeiro is experiencing significant growth, with the city receiving 6.4 million visitors in the first half of 2026, including 1.3 million foreigners. This influx generated an estimated 17.2 billion reais for the local economy, following a record-breaking 2025.

In Arraial do Cabo, the Maratona Ambiental – Corrida da Baleia was held on September 19-20, 2026. The event combined sports with ecological awareness, highlighting the region's importance as a whale migration route and promoting sustainable tourism.

In Copacabana, the Roxy Dinner Show is introducing new culinary and musical experiences led by entrepreneur Alexandre Accioly and chef Katia Barbosa. The venue is catering to the increasing demand for cultural and gastronomic experiences, featuring traditional dishes and live performances of Bossa Nova and MPB.
