Rio de Janeiro traffic interdiction in Gávea for utility works

CET-Rio has implemented a traffic operation in the Gávea neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro to facilitate infrastructure works by the concessionaire Águas do Rio on Avenida Visconde de Albuquerque.

Starting at 7:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the section of the avenue in front of Colégio Estadual André Maurois, located between Avenida Rodrigo Otávio and Rua Bartolomeu Mitre, will be completely closed to traffic. The closure is expected to last until December 17, 2026.

As part of the operation, traffic flow will be inverted on the stretch between Rua Mário Ribeiro and Rua Bartolomeu Mitre, moving toward Rua Bartolomeu Mitre. Additionally, parking is prohibited on Avenida Visconde de Albuquerque between numbers 1,302 and 1,392. Authorities recommend that drivers use alternative routes and follow all local signage.
