Rio de Janeiro water shortage protest blocks Yellow Line, snarls traffic

Residents of the Bonsucesso area in Rio de Janeiro staged a protest on the Yellow Line (Linha Amarela) on Monday, demanding an end to water supply interruptions. Protesters occupied lanes near the Fiocruz campus and later extended the blockage to the access road for Avenida Brasil, causing congestion along the entire corridor that links the city's North and West zones.

Police units monitored the demonstration, and no clashes or injuries were reported. Authorities have not provided a timeline for restoring water service or commented on the cause of the shortage. Motorists were advised to expect longer travel times and to check traffic updates before traveling.
