Rio de Janeiro's Jaé ticketing system hits 1 billion trips

Rio de Janeiro’s Jaé digital ticketing system has reached a milestone of 1 billion registered trips in its first year of exclusive operation. The system currently serves 5 million registered users and has integrated various payment methods, including PIX, which has recorded approximately 2 million uses. About 30% of users utilize the Jaé mobile app to pay via QR Code across buses, BRT terminals, Metro, VLT, and vans.

Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere stated that the digital ticketing system provides the city with greater transparency and data access to monitor transport operations and enforce rules. The centralization of fare collection allows the municipal government to better manage revenues and plan service improvements based on real-time demand patterns.

Additionally, the Rio Rotativo Digital parking system has been integrated into the Jaé app and expanded to regions including Barra da Tijuca, São Conrado, and Tijuca. This digital solution replaces paper vouchers with mobile payments via PIX or credit card, allowing for electronic monitoring of parking space turnover.

Separately, TrensRJ has implemented an enhanced operational scheme to handle increased passenger flow, including extra train services on the Santa Cruz line and reinforced security at stations.
