Rio do Sul mayor receives culture award as Pinhais launches 9th Visual Arts Salon in Brazil

Mayor Manoel Arisoli Pereira of Rio do Sul was honored with the 2026 "Prefeito Amigo da Cultura" award by the Associação dos Municípios do Alto Vale do Itajaí (Amavi) during the V Regional Forum of Culture in Ituporanga. The prize recognises successful municipal cultural management and highlights the city's efforts to strengthen public cultural policies.

In Pinhais, the municipal Department of Culture opened the 9th Salão de Artes Visuais. A jury selected 33 works from 13 Brazilian states and six countries, and the ceremony was attended by Mayor Rosa Maria, cultural officials and local legislators. Prizes were awarded to the top three artists, with additional honours for local participants. The event runs from 7 to 22 August at the Centro Cultural Wanda dos Santos Mallmann.
