Rio Grande da Serra Wins 18 Medals at Elderly Games as Brazil Prepares Taekwondo Squad for International Events

The municipal delegation from Rio Grande da Serra captured 18 medals — seven gold, seven silver and four bronze — at the 2026 Jogos Abertos da Terceira Idade, securing fourth place overall in the athletics tally. Standout performances included Antônio Ferreira ("Sabiá") winning gold in the 100‑metre sprint and two silvers, and Rosa Midori taking gold in the 2,000‑metre race.

In São Paulo, the Brazilian Paralympic Taekwondo team assembled 23 athletes at the Centre of Training for the Paralympic Brazilian (CTPB) for its third training camp. The camp, running until 1 August, focused on physical assessments, multidisciplinary support and technical adjustments ahead of upcoming competitions such as the WT President’s Cup in Pakistan and the Grand Prix in South Korea. Notable athletes included Paris 2024 gold‑medalist Ana Moura and Tokyo 2020 silver‑medalist Débora Menezes.
