Rio Grande do Norte coffee sector sees new association and research partnership
The Festa do Boi 2026 event in Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte, has highlighted significant advancements for the regional agribusiness sector. Key developments include the launch of Café Laurides, a new specialty coffee from Portalegre, and the official presentation of the Association of Coffee Producers of the Serra de Santana (Acafes), the first coffee growers' association in the state.
To support the industry, Sebrae-RN and the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid (UFERSA) have signed a cooperation agreement to establish the 'Grupo de Estudos Cafés RN'. This study group aims to connect agronomy students with local producers to research coffee varieties and adaptation to semi-arid conditions.
The Sebrae agency at the event occupies 5,000 square meters, showcasing a variety of artisanal products including cheeses, honey, and specialty coffees. The space serves as a hub for commercialization, training, and consultancy, featuring products recognized by the 'Selo Feito Potiguar' movement to promote local production.
