Rio Grande do Norte firefighters respond to two drowning incidents

The Military Fire Department of Rio Grande do Norte (CBMRN) responded to two separate drowning incidents on Monday morning.

In Macaíba, located in the Natal metropolitan area, a man suffered a sudden medical emergency while cleaning a swimming pool and fell into the water. The CBMRN classified this as a secondary drowning, which occurs when an individual loses consciousness or becomes unable to remain out of the water following a prior event.

A second incident occurred at Muriú beach on the state's northern coast. The body of a man was discovered on the sand after he had been swept out to sea. Authorities noted that no prior emergency calls were made regarding this individual, and the victim was already deceased when firefighters arrived at the scene.

The CBMRN has issued a reminder for the public to immediately report any emergencies in pools, rivers, lagoons, or the sea to increase the chances of successful rescue efforts.
