Rio Grande do Norte implements new safety and neutrality rules

Authorities in Rio Grande do Norte have implemented new regulations regarding public safety and institutional neutrality.

The Military Fire Department (CBMRN) has established new fire and panic safety standards for electric vehicle charging stations through Resolution Technical nº 05/2026. The rules mandate the use of specific charging modes (3 and 4) with fixed chargers and integrated safety systems in indoor garages, while prohibiting portable chargers in those environments. Additionally, charging stations must maintain a five-meter distance from exit routes in buildings with a single escape path and include emergency shutdown systems.

Separately, the Rio Grande do Norte Military Police (PMRN) issued Normative Ordinance nº 142/CG/PMRN to prevent the use of the corporation for political purposes during the 2026 elections. Signed by Commander-General Colonel Alarico José Pessoa Azevêdo Júnior, the ordinance prohibits the use of police vehicles, uniforms, equipment, or facilities to benefit political candidates. It also forbids officers from engaging in partisan activities during service or allowing candidates to film operations for campaign material.
