Rio Grande do Norte Public Ministry addresses traffic safety and health transport
The Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Norte (MPRN) has conducted several institutional actions focused on public health and safety across the state. In alignment with National Traffic Week, prosecutors in Natal and surrounding municipalities, including Macaíba, Extremoz, and São Gonçalo do Amarante, are working to consolidate the 'Vida no Trânsito' (Life in Traffic) Program. This initiative aims to prevent traffic-related injuries and deaths by integrating municipalities into the National Traffic System and ensuring the use of compulsory notification forms for accidents.
In a separate effort, the MPRN held a public hearing in Jardim do Seridó to address issues regarding elective sanitary transport. The hearing focused on the practical application of municipal regulations and the difficulties patients face when traveling for medical treatment. Local residents and users of the service, including parents of neurodivergent children requiring individualized transport, voiced concerns regarding service adequacy and operational delays. The municipal government indicated that the current decree may be updated to better meet these community demands.
