Rio Grande do Norte sees 242% surge in electric vehicle sales
Electric vehicle sales in Rio Grande do Norte saw a significant surge in the first half of 2026, growing 242.78% compared to the same period in 2025. According to data from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE), 3,822 electrified vehicles were sold in the state between January and June 2026, up from 1,115 in the previous year.
Battery electric vehicles (BEV) accounted for approximately 62% of these sales. This rapid growth has prompted educational institutions such as IFRN and Senai-RN to expand professional training programs focused on high-voltage system maintenance, electronic diagnostics, and charging infrastructure installation to meet the increasing market demand.
