Rio Grande do Norte students to present Caatinga research at UN forum
Five chemistry students from the Instituto Estadual de Educação Profissional, Tecnologia e Inovação do Rio Grande do Norte (IERN) have been selected to present their research at the World Food Forum in Rome, Italy. Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the forum provides an international platform to discuss food systems, agriculture, and sustainability.
The students' research project, titled ‘Ka’atinga’, focuses on addressing soil degradation within the Caatinga biome in northeastern Brazil. Their study investigates the potential of biomass produced from microalgae as a resource to help recover degraded areas. The project integrates knowledge from chemistry, biotechnology, and environmental science to tackle local ecological challenges through scientific innovation.
