Rio Grande do Sul begins Farroupilha Week celebrations
The Acampamento Farroupilha celebrations are commencing across Rio Grande do Sul, marked by the traditional lighting of the ‘Chama Crioula’. In Porto Alegre, the official opening takes place at Parque Harmonia, where the ceremony is expected to draw over 2 million visitors by September 20. This year’s theme focuses on ‘Jesuit and Guarani Heritage in Rio Grande do Sul: 400 years of culture and tradition’, featuring over 120 free artistic attractions, including musical shows, regional performances, and theatrical plays.
In Camaquã, the municipality is hosting its first Acampamento Farroupilha from September 13 to 20 at the Parque do Sindicato Rural. The event will feature more than 55 confirmed camps, musical performances, and a traditional parade. To ensure community accessibility, entry is free, though organizers are requesting donations of non-perishable food to support vulnerable families.
