Rio Grande do Sul farmers face diesel shortages during summer planting

The Federation of Agriculture of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Farsul) has reported new restrictions and delays in diesel fuel deliveries to rural producers. This shortage coincides with the start of the summer planting season, a critical period for the state's agricultural productivity.

Farsul President Domingos Velho Lopes warned that missing the ideal sowing window could reduce planted areas and compromise crop yields. The entity noted that similar bottlenecks occurred earlier this year during the rice and soy harvests.

In addition to supply delays, producers are facing higher costs. Farsul pointed to a discrepancy between national diesel prices and import parity as a complicating factor. The federation intends to contact the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) to investigate reports of unjustified supply refusals and abusive price increases.
