Rio Grande do Sul launches Redes Verdes Vivas sustainability project

The Redes Verdes Vivas project has been launched in Rio Grande do Sul, involving seven municipalities: Canela, Santa Maria, Santa Cruz do Sul, Quinze de Novembro, Vera Cruz, Ibirubá, and Nova Petrópolis. The two-year initiative focuses on environmental education, sustainability, and the empowerment of women in rural areas.

The project is a partnership between the State Government, CPFL/RGE, and the Canela City Hall, with support from the Rural Workers Union and the Federation of Agricultural Workers in Rio Grande do Sul (Fetag-RS). It originated from an environmental compensation measure by CPFL and is coordinated by the State Secretariat of the Environment (Sema).

Planned activities include workshops for female farmers, environmental education in schools, and the recovery of green areas. The initiative aims to engage rural families, students, and local civil society to create a lasting environmental and social legacy.
