Rio Grande do Sul leaders seek federal action on rural debt renegotiation

During the 49th Expointer in Esteio, Rio Grande do Sul, political leaders and agricultural representatives are focusing on the renegotiation of rural producer debts. Governor Eduardo Leite has called for federal action to operationalize measures that would unblock financial operations for the sector, noting that previous discussions with the Ministry of Finance regarding the practical viability of current measures have yet to yield results.

Farsul is hosting a working meeting at the event to discuss Provisional Measure (MP) 1.376/2026. This measure aims to provide differentiated conditions for renegotiating agricultural and livestock credit debts to prevent producers from being excluded from the financial system. The meeting includes participation from key political figures, including Senator Renan Calheiros and Federal Deputy Paulo Pimenta.

Separately, the Expointer has seen significant growth in the family farming sector. Sales in this segment rose from R$ 8.6 million in 2023 to R$ 13.6 million in 2025, representing a 57% increase over two years, with 509 exhibitors participating this year.
