Residential rent delinquency in Rio Grande do Sul decreased to 5.8% in August, down from 6.1% in July. This decline, reported by the technology and financial services company Loft, breaks a recent upward trend and resumes a downward trajectory seen after a historical peak of 7.3% in September 2025.

According to Loft data manager Fábio Takahashi, the August figure is lower than the same month in the previous two years, suggesting economic improvement, although the state's rate remains above the national average of 5.9%. The state's 5.8% rate is closely aligned with the South Region average of 5.6%.

In comparison to other Brazilian states, Rio Grande do Sul holds an intermediate position. Its delinquency rate is lower than that of Minas Gerais (7.4%) and São Paulo (6.0%), but higher than Santa Catarina (5.6%), Paraná (5.3%), Espírito Santo (4.9%), and Rio de Janeiro (4.7%). The index is derived from over 500,000 rent guarantee contracts managed by Loft.
