Rio Grande do Sul road works and speed‑monitoring upgrades disrupt traffic

On Monday, 13 July, a lane on the ERS‑239 near Taquara (km 52.025) will be closed for asphalt resurfacing. Traffic will be diverted to the opposite lane, which will operate as a temporary two‑way stretch of about 250 metres between 07:00 and 18:00. Drivers are warned of possible slow‑downs and congestion, and are advised to reduce speed, obey temporary signs and consider alternative routes until normal flow resumes after the works are finished.

The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) announced plans to install nine fixed speed‑control radars (CEV) on the BR‑285 in Bom Jesus, Vacaria and Muitos Capões, and one on the BR‑116 in Campestre da Serra, all in the Serra Gaúcha region. The devices will monitor a 60 km/h limit, with two points limited to 50 km/h. Installation dates are pending final studies, after which a contracted firm will carry out the work. The radars operate without driver‑visible displays.

Both measures aim to improve traffic safety and flow on key state highways in Rio Grande do Sul.
