Rio Ivaí flooding blocks highways and bridges in Paraná
Flooding of the Rio Ivaí has caused significant disruptions to the road network in Paraná, Brazil. The bridge on the PR-554 highway between São Jorge do Ivaí and Doutor Camargo is completely closed after rising water levels covered the track. The river level exceeded 7 meters in the Doutor Camargo region, driven by heavy accumulated rainfall.
Additional road closures and restrictions include the PR-559 bridge over the Rio Paranavaí between Paraíso do Norte and Mirador, which is also closed. On the PR-464, traffic is restricted due to erosion risks and flooding. The DER/PR has advised motorists to use alternative routes, such as the BR-376 via Mandaguaçu, to avoid affected areas. Residents in riverside communities are reportedly performing preventive evacuations of property.
